Yahoo! News - Riot in New Hampshire After Yanks Beat Sox, Again This article talks about the Red Sox/Yankees being a rivalry. Maybe it is a rivalry to the Red Sox, but I doubt it is a rivalry to the Yankees and to third party observers. A rivalry in my opinion is a competition where one party wins some of the time and the other party wins some of the time. The Red Sox/Yankees is a beatdown. The Yankees have won 26 Championships since getting Babe Ruth and the Red Sox have 0. That is not a rivalry. An example of a rivalry is Cowboys/49ers in the 90's when they would beat each other and whomever won would go on to win the Super Bowl.
